We are a friendly group of twenty ladies who meet in the Church Room on the last Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. Ladies who do not have children, or are not married are also very welcome to join the Mothers Union as are men.
The meetings usually last about 2hrs - the format being - Opening prayers and notices, a speaker, concluding with tea or coffee and a chat.
You will see below the dates of our meetings and there is more to be enjoyed at Deanery and Diocesan level.
There is a MU Corporate Holy Communion at 9.15am on the second Tuesday in the month.
Please come and visit us, you can be assured of a warm welcome.
If you would like to contact us please telephone any of the above numbers.
MOTHERS' UNION Annual Report for 2008.
Although still only a small branch we have welcomed new members to experience the warm fellowship and friendship the branch offers. Our varied programme through which we have enjoyed excellent speakers and demonstrations and including a lunch at Brunel college has been much enjoyed by our members. It has been a pleasure to also welcome visitors.
Our work includes the support of charities and projects within our own organisation and in this respect we have made donations to Mothers' Union funds that support the Children's Hospital, underprivileged children, a Brazilian shanty town and the overseas fund. We also give our full support as a group and individuals to a number of other Frenchay Church activities.
Members have attended other branches within the Deanery and Diocese and joined their worship on a number of occasions. The real highlight for us was having the privilege of hosting the Deanery Carol Service at Frenchay when over 100 Mothers' Union members from various churches came together for this special service. The thanks for our welcome and the service were also extended to many compliments on the beauty of Frenchay Church and the Christmas themed cakes we had provided for the refreshments instead of the more traditional mince pies.
We meet on the last Tuesday of the month in the Church Room; please keep an eye on the Church magazine for our events and always you will be assured of a warm welcome.
Karen Smith, Branch Leader.
